How To Tie The Wire On The Back Of Your Picture Frame

  • Put two small felt pads (felt bumpers) on the opposite sides of the bottom corners (not top corners)
    • Stay on the wall
    • Promote air circulation
  • Place D-Rings at about 1/3 of the height from top on both sides
  • Add picture frame wire (plastic coated stainless steel wire)
    • Make a knot on the D-ring
    • Twist the wire off, put a few twists (four)
    • Use a wire cutter to cut off the excess piece of wire
    • The other side: allow about 10 cm more than the frame—easy to work with—then cut if off
    • Don’t pull it tight, have some slack, use two picture hooks to hang
    • Same, make a knot, twist, cut off

Hang Sawtooth Picture

Best Hardware To Put Into The Wall When Hanging A Picture Frame That Uses A Sawtooth Hanger

  • Usually a nail with a flat head or a screw with a flat head.
  • I always like a good drywall anchor and a screw. It just gives more confidence and if you use like a #6 screw it should be skinny enough.
  • For 2-3 lbs, just a nail at an angle will do fine. Needs a head; not a finish nail.
  • Mark the stud. Put a little toothpaste on the hanger. Place it exactly where you want it. Drill hole where toothpaste is on wall. Any screw with a flat top will do as long as it’s in the stud. If no stud then drywall anchor and screw is fine as long as it’s light weight. Good luck.
  • A nail at 45 degrees.
  • To hang it on the wall, figure out where you want to hang your frame and leave a mark. Drill a hole appropriate for the size of your anchor. Then, insert the screw or nail. Don’t forget to leave ⅛ inch of thread exposed so you can hang the frame.
